Description
Why It’s Done:
This test is primarily used to:
• Identify B-cell populations and differentiate them from T-cell populations.
• Classify lymphomas, especially B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas.
• Distinguish between reactive and malignant lymphoid conditions.
• Support diagnosis of specific lymphoma subtypes, such as follicular lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, or Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
• Aid in treatment planning and prognosis assessment.
Preparation:
• No special preparation is needed for the IHC test itself.
• The test is performed on a tissue sample, usually obtained through a lymph node or tissue biopsy.
• Follow any pre-biopsy instructions provided by your doctor, such as fasting or medication adjustments.
• Inform your physician about any medications, allergies, or medical history relevant to the biopsy procedure.
