Why is the Test Done?
• To evaluate growth disorders in children and adolescents (e.g., short stature or gigantism)
• To diagnose and monitor conditions related to excess or deficiency of growth hormone, such as:
o Acromegaly
o Gigantism
o Growth Hormone Deficiency
• To monitor treatment in individuals receiving growth hormone therapy
• To investigate delayed puberty or pituitary gland disorders
Preparation Required
• Fasting may be required in some cases (follow your doctor’s instructions)
• Best done in the morning for accurate hormone assessment
• Inform your doctor of any medications or hormone treatments
