Description
Why It’s Done:
This test is commonly recommended:
• To diagnose gestational diabetes, especially between the 24th and 28th week of pregnancy.
• To evaluate glucose metabolism in pregnant women who are at higher risk of developing diabetes (e.g., those with obesity, family history of diabetes, or previous GDM).
• To prevent pregnancy-related complications, such as high birth weight, premature delivery, or preeclampsia.
• To protect long-term health of both mother and baby by identifying and managing abnormal blood sugar early.
This 75-gram OGTT follows the WHO and IADPSG guidelines for gestational diabetes screening.
