• Malaria Antigen Test (Plasmodium falciparum & vivax)
• Typhoid Test (Widal test or Typhidot / IgM & IgG)

Description

Why It’s Done:

This test is recommended for patients presenting with acute or prolonged fever. It helps detect:
1. Dengue Fever:
o Caused by the dengue virus, transmitted through mosquito bites.
o Symptoms: High fever, body ache, rash, low platelet count.
2. Malaria:
o Caused by Plasmodium parasites transmitted by infected mosquitoes.
o Symptoms: Recurrent chills, high fever, sweating, headache.
3. Typhoid Fever:
o Caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhi, typically spread through contaminated food or water.
o Symptoms: Prolonged fever, abdominal pain, fatigue, loss of appetite.
This panel helps doctors quickly diagnose and start targeted treatment, avoiding unnecessary medications and delays.

Preparation:

• Fasting:
o Usually not required for Fever Panel – 3. However, if additional tests like blood sugar or liver/kidney profiles are also ordered, fasting for 8–10 hours may be advised.
• Hydration:
o Drink sufficient water before the test to make blood collection easier.
• Medications:
o Inform your doctor or lab technician if you are taking any medications, including antibiotics, antimalarials, or pain relievers, as they may affect results.
• Recent Illness or Travel History:
o Share recent symptoms, duration of fever, or any travel history to help correlate the lab findings with possible exposures.
