    Description

    Why It’s Done:

    • To detect prostate cancer and its recurrence after treatment.
    • To locate cancer spread to lymph nodes or other organs.
    • To guide treatment decisions by identifying active cancer areas.
    • To monitor response to therapy or disease progression.

    Preparation:

    • Do not eat or drink anything except water for 4 to 6 hours before the test.
    • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
    • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours before the scan.
    • Inform your doctor about any medications, allergies, or medical conditions.
    • Wear comfortable clothing; you might need to change into a hospital gown.
    • Notify if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
