To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
- Fasting:
Usually not required, but follow the doctor’s instructions. - Metal Removal:
Remove jewelry, piercings, eyeglasses, or dentures to avoid image distortion. - Contrast Dye (if used):
If a contrast-enhanced scan is needed, inform your doctor about allergies or kidney issues.
You may need to fast for 4-6 hours before the scan. - Pregnancy Alert:
Inform the technician if pregnant, as radiation exposure is limited during pregnancy. - Medical History:
Share details about previous TMJ issues, surgeries, or ongoing treatments. - Clothing:
Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal buttons or zippers. - Motion Control:
Stay very still during the scan to ensure clear images.
