Description

Test Preparation

To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:

  • Fasting:
    • Fasting is usually not required, unless contrast dye is used.
    • If contrast is required, you may need to fast for 4-6 hours before the scan.
  • Metal Object Removal:
    • Remove jewelry, glasses, hearing aids, or any metal objects near the face to prevent image distortion.
  • IV Contrast Injection (If Needed):
    • If contrast dye is used, inform the doctor if you have:
    Allergies to contrast dye or iodine
    Kidney disease or diabetes (contrast can affect kidney function)
    Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Clothing:
    • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes without zippers or metal buttons.
  • Breathing Instructions:
    • You may be asked to hold still or hold your breath briefly during the scan to reduce motion artifacts.
  • Post-Procedure Care:
    • If contrast was used, drink plenty of water to help flush it out of your system.
