A CT Chest + Whole Abdomen (Plain) is a Computed Tomography (CT) scan that captures detailed images of the chest and entire abdomen (upper and lower abdomen) without using contrast dye. This scan helps assess the lungs, airways, heart, liver, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, intestines, and other abdominal organs to detect infections, tumors, inflammation, fluid buildup, or other abnormalities.

    Test Preparation

To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:

    • Fasting: Usually not required for a non-contrast (plain) scan.
    • Clothing & Accessories: Wear loose, comfortable clothing and avoid metal objects (zippers, buttons, jewelry, piercings) as they may interfere with the scan.
    • Medical History: Inform the doctor if you are pregnant, have any medical conditions, or take any medications.
    • Breathing Instructions: You may be asked to hold your breath for a few seconds to obtain clearer images.
    • Bladder Preparation: In some cases, you may be asked to drink water before the scan to ensure the bladder is adequately filled for better imaging of lower abdominal structures.
