A CT Angiography (CTA) of the Brain (Plain) is a non-contrast CT scan that provides detailed images of the brain’s blood vessels without the use of contrast dye. It is used to evaluate conditions affecting the brain’s vascular system, such as:

  • Stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA)
  • Aneurysms (bulging blood vessels)
  • Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs)
  • Blood vessel blockages or narrowing (stenosis)
  • Intracranial hemorrhage (brain bleeding)
  • Brain tumors affecting blood flow

Unlike contrast-enhanced CT Angiography (CTA Brain with Contrast), which provides clearer images of blood vessels, CTA Brain (Plain) is useful when contrast dye cannot be used (e.g., kidney issues, allergies).
