    Test Preparation

To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:

    • Fasting:
You may be required to fast for 4-6 hours before the scan, especially if contrast dye is used. Water is usually allowed.
    •  Allergy Check:
Inform the doctor if you have any allergies to iodine, shellfish, or contrast dye.
If you have a history of contrast allergy, pre-medication (such as antihistamines or steroids) may be prescribed.
    • Kidney Function Test:
If contrast is used, a blood test (creatinine/eGFR) may be needed to check kidney function.
    • Pregnancy:
Inform the doctor if you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy, as radiation exposure is not recommended.
    • Remove Metal Objects:
Remove any jewelry, hairpins, or metal accessories that may interfere with imaging.
    • Hydration:
Drinking plenty of water before and after the test can help flush out the contrast dye from your body.
    • Diabetic Medication:
If you are on metformin, you may need to stop taking it for a day or two after the scan, as contrast dye can affect kidney function.
