Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
- Fasting:
Avoid eating for 4–6 hours before the scan, especially if IV or oral contrast is required. - Hydration:
Drink plenty of water unless instructed otherwise to help eliminate the contrast from your body after the scan. - Allergy Check:
Inform your doctor if you have allergies to iodine-based contrast dye or shellfish.
Anti-allergy medication may be provided if needed. - Medical Conditions to Disclose:
If you have kidney disease, diabetes, or thyroid disorders, notify your doctor, as contrast agents can affect kidney function.
If taking metformin (for diabetes), you may need to stop the medication before and after the scan. - Pregnancy Precautions:
Pregnant women or those suspecting pregnancy should inform their doctor due to radiation exposure. - Clothing & Accessories:
Wear loose clothing and remove metal objects (belts, jewelry, piercings) to prevent image interference.
