Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
- Fasting:
Avoid eating for 4–6 hours before the scan if IV contrast is used. - Hydration:
Drink water unless instructed otherwise to help flush the contrast after the scan. - Allergy Check:
Inform your doctor if you have allergies to iodine-based contrast dye or shellfish.
You may be given anti-allergy medication if necessary. - Medical Considerations:
Patients with kidney disease, diabetes, or thyroid issues should inform their doctor, as contrast agents can affect kidney function.
If taking metformin (for diabetes), you may need to pause it before and after the scan. - Pregnancy Precautions:
If pregnant or suspect pregnancy, notify your doctor due to radiation exposure. - Clothing & Accessories:
Wear loose-fitting clothes and remove metal objects (jewelry, piercings, hearing aids, or dentures) to prevent image distortion.
