This test is recommended if you:
• Have unexplained bruising or bleeding
• Experience frequent nosebleeds or heavy menstruation
• Are scheduled for surgery or an invasive procedure
• Are on anticoagulant therapy (e.g., warfarin, heparin)
• Have a suspected clotting disorder (e.g., hemophilia, deep vein thrombosis)
Preparation
• No special preparation is typically required.
• Inform your doctor about any medications or supplements you are taking, especially blood thinners or aspirin, as these can affect the results.
