Why It’s Done:
This test is commonly ordered to:
• Diagnose a recent or acute Chikungunya infection, particularly in patients with symptoms such as fever, joint pain, rash, and fatigue.
• Differentiate Chikungunya from other mosquito-borne viral infections like dengue or Zika.
• Support outbreak investigations in endemic or high-risk areas.
• Guide treatment and management, especially in patients with severe symptoms or those at risk for complications.
Preparation:
• No special preparation (such as fasting) is required for this test.
• Inform your healthcare provider about:
o Any recent travel to areas with Chikungunya outbreaks.
o Current medications or underlying health conditions.
• A blood sample will be drawn from a vein in your arm for testing.
