Why It’s Done:
This test is performed to:
• Confirm past Chikungunya virus infection.
• Support diagnosis in individuals with a history of joint pain or other lingering symptoms after suspected infection.
• Conduct epidemiological studies or screen individuals in endemic or outbreak-prone areas.
• Differentiate Chikungunya from other similar viral infections, such as dengue or Zika virus.
Preparation:
• No special preparation is required for this test.
• Inform your doctor of any recent illnesses, travel history, or vaccinations.
• A blood sample will be collected from a vein, usually in your arm.
