    Test Preparation

     Before the Test:
    • Schedule smart: Try to schedule your test a week after your period when breasts are less tender.
    • Avoid using deodorants, lotions, powders, or perfumes on your chest or underarms on the day of the test. These can show up on the X-ray and affect the results.
    • Wear a two-piece outfit: You’ll need to remove your top and bra for the test, so wearing a top and bottom makes things easier.
    • Bring previous mammograms or reports if you’ve had one before, for comparison.

Inform your doctor or technician if:
    • You are pregnant or think you might be.
    • You are breastfeeding.
    • You have breast implants, as special techniques may be needed.
