Anti Insulin Antibodies

2,000.00

The Anti-Insulin Antibodies test detects antibodies produced by the immune system against insulin, either naturally produced by the body or injected insulin in diabetic patients. The presence of these antibodies can interfere with insulin action and blood glucose control.
This test is particularly useful for evaluating autoimmune responses in diabetes, especially Type 1 diabetes or in patients receiving insulin therapy.

    Why It’s Done:

    This test is ordered to:
    • Diagnose or monitor Type 1 diabetes mellitus, where the immune system attacks insulin-producing cells
    • Evaluate immune responses in patients receiving insulin therapy, which may affect treatment effectiveness
    • Investigate causes of unexplained blood sugar fluctuations or insulin resistance
    • Assist in diagnosing insulin autoimmune syndrome (IAS), a rare condition causing hypoglycemia

    Preparation:

    • No special preparation is usually required.
    • Blood is drawn from a vein, typically in the arm.
    • Inform your healthcare provider about insulin use or medications.
    • Fasting is not necessary unless other tests are being done simultaneously.
