Description
Why It’s Done:
This test is ordered to:
• Diagnose or confirm limited systemic sclerosis (CREST syndrome)
• Help differentiate between types of systemic sclerosis or other autoimmune connective tissue diseases
• Evaluate symptoms like skin thickening, Raynaud’s phenomenon, or other signs of autoimmune disorders
• Monitor disease progression and response to treatment
Preparation:
• No special preparation is required.
• Blood sample is collected from a vein, usually in the arm.
• Inform your healthcare provider about any medications or existing autoimmune conditions.
• Fasting is generally not necessary
