Description
Why It’s Done:
This test is ordered to:
• Diagnose or monitor antiphospholipid syndrome (APS)
• Investigate causes of unexplained blood clots, recurrent miscarriages, or stroke
• Evaluate patients with symptoms of autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
• Help assess risk for clotting disorders in certain clinical scenarios
Preparation:
• No special preparation is required.
• Blood sample is taken from a vein, usually from the arm.
• Inform your healthcare provider about any medications, especially blood thinners or immunosuppressants.
• Fasting is not necessary
