    Description

    Why It’s Done:

The Ante-Natal Panel – 1 is done to:
    1. Establish Maternal Health Baseline:
o Detect anemia, infections, or pre-existing conditions that may affect pregnancy.
    2. Prevent Transmission of Infections:
o Identify infections (HIV, hepatitis B, syphilis) that could pass from mother to baby and begin timely treatment.
    3. Evaluate Immunity Status:
o Check immunity against rubella to prevent complications like congenital rubella syndrome.
    4. Ensure Safe Pregnancy Management:
o Determine blood group and Rh compatibility to manage potential Rh incompatibility.
    5. Detect Urinary Tract Issues:
o Urine analysis helps detect UTIs, which are common during pregnancy.

    Preparation:

    • Fasting:
o Not required. This is a non-fasting test.
    • Hydration:
o Drink enough water before the test, especially for urine collection.
    • Medications:
o Inform your doctor if you’re taking any supplements, including prenatal vitamins or iron, as these may influence some test results.
    • Urine Sample:
o You may be asked to provide a midstream urine sample during your visit.
    • No Special Restrictions:
o You can continue your normal diet and routine unless otherwise instructed by your healthcare provider.
