This test is typically performed during routine antenatal care to:
• Screen for conditions that can impact pregnancy, such as gestational diabetes, anemia, infections, and nutritional deficiencies
• Monitor the overall health of the mother and baby
• Ensure early intervention for conditions that can lead to complications such as pre-eclampsia or gestational hypertension
Preparation
• Fasting: You must fast for 8–12 hours before the test, avoiding food or drink except for water.
• Avoid heavy exercise or taking any medications that may affect the test results without consulting your doctor.
