The Phadiatop Fx5 (Food Mix) Test is a blood test that screens for IgE antibodies (allergy-related antibodies) against a mixture of common food allergens. It is used to help identify food allergies, especially in children and individuals with symptoms suggesting a food-related allergic reaction.
The Fx5 panel typically includes a mix of six common food allergens:
• Egg white
• Cow’s milk
• Codfish
• Wheat
• Peanut
• Soybean
This test belongs to the ImmunoCAP® system, which is highly sensitive and specific for detecting allergen-specific IgE in the blood.

Description

Why It’s Done:

The Phadiatop Fx5 test is used to:
• Screen for food allergies when the specific food trigger is unknown
• Investigate symptoms such as:
o Hives, eczema, or skin rashes
o Swelling of lips or face
o Abdominal pain, vomiting, or diarrhea
o Sneezing, coughing, wheezing, or breathing difficulties
o Anaphylaxis
• Help guide elimination diets
• Determine if further specific allergen testing or oral food challenges are needed
It is particularly helpful in young children or when multiple food allergies are suspected.

Preparation:

• No fasting or special preparation is typically required.
• Continue taking medications unless instructed otherwise.
• Inform the doctor of:
o Any history of allergic reactions
o Symptoms and their timing in relation to food intake
Note: Antihistamines do not affect this test since it measures blood IgE, not skin reactivity.
