    Test Preparation

    To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:

    For a Plain (Non-Contrast) CT Scan:

    • Fasting: Usually not required.
    • Clothing & Accessories: Wear loose-fitting clothing without metal (zippers, buttons, or jewelry).
    • Medical History: Inform the doctor if you are pregnant, have any medical conditions, or are on any medications.
    • Breathing Instructions: You may need to hold your breath briefly during the scan.

    For a Contrast CT Scan (if contrast dye is used):

    • Fasting: Generally, fast for 4–6 hours before the scan.
    • Hydration: Drink plenty of water unless instructed otherwise.
    • Allergy Check: Inform the doctor if you have allergies to contrast dye, iodine, or seafood.
    • Kidney Function Test: In some cases, a creatinine blood test is required to check kidney function before administering contrast dye.
    • Diabetic Medication: If you take metformin, you may need to stop it temporarily before the scan.
