A CT Joints scan is a computed tomography (CT) scan that captures detailed images of a specific joint or multiple joints in the body. It provides cross-sectional views of bones, cartilage, and soft tissues to diagnose various joint-related conditions.

This scan is commonly performed on joints such as:

  • Knee Joint – For fractures, arthritis, meniscus injuries
  • Shoulder Joint – For rotator cuff injuries, joint instability
  • Hip Joint – For arthritis, fractures, or hip dislocation
  • Elbow, Wrist, or Ankle Joints – For ligament injuries, fractures
  • Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) – For jaw joint disorders

A CT Joints (Plain) scan does not use contrast dye and is excellent for evaluating bone structures, fractures, and degenerative joint diseases. If soft tissue or blood vessel details are needed, a contrast-enhanced CT or MRI may be recommended.
