To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
Fasting:
• Avoid food for 4-6 hours before the scan. Clear liquids (water, black coffee, or tea) may be allowed unless instructed otherwise.
Hydration:
• You may be asked to drink extra water before the scan to improve contrast visualization.
Contrast Considerations:
• If IV contrast is used, inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, diabetes, or allergies to iodine-based contrast.
• If you have a history of contrast allergies, you might need anti-allergic medications before the test.
Diabetes & Medication:
• If you are on Metformin, you may need to stop taking it 24-48 hours before and after the scan (as per your doctor’s advice).
• Other medications should be taken as per usual unless directed otherwise.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding:
• Inform the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as contrast dye may pose risks.
Clothing & Accessories:
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal zippers or buttons.
• Remove jewelry, belts, and metallic objects before the scan.
