Description
Purpose of the Test:
• To ensure the patient is in optimal health before undergoing surgery, reducing the risk of complications
• To assess blood clotting ability and detect any bleeding disorders that could cause excessive bleeding during surgery
• To evaluate kidney, liver, and heart function to ensure these vital organs can handle the stress of surgery and anesthesia
• To screen for infections (e.g., HIV, Hepatitis) that could affect the surgical procedure or recovery
• To monitor blood glucose levels and other health parameters for individuals with chronic conditions, ensuring better post-operative care
• To detect any anemia or other blood-related issues that could delay recovery or increase the risk of complications
Preparation Required:
• Fasting may be required for some tests, especially if blood glucose or cholesterol levels are being tested. Follow the instructions provided by the healthcare provider.
• No fasting required for some tests, such as the Complete Blood Count (CBC) or urine tests.
• Inform the healthcare provider about any medications, especially blood thinners, as these may need to be adjusted before surgery.
• Pregnancy test may be required for women of childbearing age.
