The Hypothyroid Screening Test is a diagnostic blood test designed to assess the function of the thyroid gland, specifically to detect hypothyroidism—a condition where the thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough thyroid hormones. Early detection is crucial as untreated hypothyroidism can lead to fatigue, weight gain, depression, and other serious health issues.
