Purpose of the Test:
• Detect active H1N1 influenza infection
• Confirm diagnosis in patients with flu-like symptoms
• Support timely isolation and treatment decisions
• Help monitor outbreaks or community spread of H1N1
What the Test Involves:
• A nasopharyngeal or throat swab is collected using a sterile swab
• The sample is processed in a molecular laboratory using Real-Time RT-PCR to detect H1N1 viral RNA
• Results indicate the presence or absence of H1N1 virus in the sample
