Why It’s Done:
The Mycobacteria IgM test is performed to:
• Diagnose active or recent mycobacterial infections, including TB or NTM.
• Support early detection, especially in cases where traditional diagnostic tests are inconclusive.
• Help differentiate between active and past infections, particularly when combined with IgG testing.
• Evaluate patients with persistent respiratory symptoms, fever, or lymphadenopathy.
• Aid in diagnosis for immunocompromised individuals, who may present with atypical symptoms.
Preparation:
• No special preparation or fasting is needed.
• A blood sample is taken from a vein.
• Inform your healthcare provider about any recent vaccinations, infections, or treatments, as these can affect antibody results.
