Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
- Fasting:
Avoid eating for 4–6 hours before the scan, especially if IV contrast is required.
Clear fluids (water) are usually allowed unless instructed otherwise. - Hydration:
Drink plenty of water before and after the scan to aid kidney function and flush out contrast dye. - Allergy Precautions:
Inform your doctor if you have allergies to iodine-based contrast dye or shellfish.
Anti-allergy medication may be provided if necessary. - Medical Considerations:
If you have kidney disease, diabetes, or thyroid disorders, notify your doctor as contrast dye may affect kidney function.
If taking metformin (for diabetes), you may need to stop it before and after the scan. - Pregnancy Precautions:
If you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy, notify your doctor due to radiation exposure. - Clothing & Accessories:
Wear loose-fitting clothing and remove metal objects (jewelry, hearing aids, glasses, dentures) to avoid interference with imaging.
