Description
Why It’s Done:
This test is performed to:
• Confirm past dengue infection, especially in cases with previous symptoms.
• Differentiate between primary and secondary dengue infections (important for treatment decisions).
• Support diagnosis in later stages of illness when the virus may no longer be detectable.
• Monitor immune response in endemic areas or during outbreaks.
Preparation:
• No special preparation is needed.
• Inform your doctor about any medications you’re taking or recent vaccinations, as these may affect test results.
• A simple blood sample is drawn from a vein, typically from your arm.
