The Cytology for Barr Body test involves collecting cells from the inside of the cheek (buccal mucosa) using a gentle scraping technique. The sample is examined under a microscope to detect the presence of a Barr body, which is an inactive X chromosome found in female cells.
This test helps determine chromosomal sex by identifying the Barr body, typically present in females (XX) but absent in males (XY).
