Description
Why It’s Done
The Cul.Sens. – Stool Test is recommended when a patient experiences symptoms such as:
• Persistent or severe diarrhea
• Abdominal cramps or pain
• Fever associated with bowel symptoms
• Blood or mucus in the stool
It helps to:
• Identify harmful bacterial infections (e.g., Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli)
• Guide appropriate antibiotic treatment
• Monitor the effectiveness of ongoing treatment
• Prevent the spread of contagious gastrointestinal infections
Preparation
• No special preparation is generally needed unless advised by your doctor.
• Avoid taking antibiotics, antacids, or anti-diarrheal medications 48–72 hours before the test, as these can interfere with the results.
• Use a clean, sterile container to collect the stool sample.
• Ensure the sample does not come into contact with urine or water from the toilet.
