Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
- Fasting: You may be asked to avoid eating or drinking for a few hours before the test, especially if contrast dye is used.
- Contrast Dye: A contrast agent (iodine-based) may be administered orally or via IV to enhance the visibility of certain structures.
- Clothing & Accessories: You may need to remove metal objects (jewelry, piercings, or glasses) as they can interfere with imaging.
- Medical History & Allergies: Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, diabetes, or allergies to contrast dye.
- Pregnancy Precaution: If you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy, notify your doctor, as CT scans use radiation.
- Staying Still: You will be required to lie still during the scan to avoid image distortion.
