Description
Why It’s Done
This test is ordered to:
• Assess aluminium exposure or poisoning from environmental, occupational, or medical sources (e.g., dialysis)
• Monitor aluminium levels in patients with kidney failure or on hemodialysis, who are at higher risk of accumulation
• Investigate symptoms such as bone pain, muscle weakness, neurological issues, or anemia that may be linked to aluminium toxicity
• Evaluate and monitor treatment efficacy to reduce aluminium burden
Preparation for the Test
• Fasting: Usually not required.
• Medications: Inform your healthcare provider about any medications or supplements you are taking, as some may interfere with results.
• Avoid contamination: Ensure blood sample collection is done with equipment free from aluminium contamination.
• Follow any additional instructions provided by your healthcare provider.
