Description
Test Preparation
Here’s how you can prepare for the test:
Hair & Scalp:
• Wash your hair thoroughly the night before.
• Do not use any hair products like oils, gels, sprays, or conditioners.
• Your scalp must be clean and dry for the electrodes to stick properly.
Clothing:
• Wear comfortable clothes. In longer studies, button-up shirts are helpful so you don’t have to remove electrodes if changing.
• Avoid clothes with metal parts (like zippers or metallic designs) which may interfere with the EEG signal.
Medications:
• Do not stop any medications unless your doctor instructs you to.
• Bring a list of all your current medications, including dosages and times you take them.
Food & Drink:
• Eat normally before the test.
• Avoid caffeine and energy drinks on the day of the test unless your doctor allows it.
• Bring snacks or meals if it’s a long test.
Sleep Deprivation (If Advised):
• Sometimes, your doctor may ask you to sleep less or stay awake the night before the test to increase the chances of detecting brain activity abnormalities.
• Follow specific instructions given by your neurologist or EEG technician.
Personal Items:
• Bring any toys, books, or activities for children or for yourself if the test is long.
• Bring any devices or items that might trigger the episodes you’re trying to capture, if advised by your doctor.
