Test Preparation
Here are the steps you should follow before your test:
Clothing:
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
• You may be asked to wear a hospital gown for access to the legs, back, and head.
Skin & Hair:
• Do not apply lotions, creams, or oils to your legs on the day of the test.
• Wash your hair before the test and avoid hair styling products, as electrodes may be placed on the scalp.
Medications:
• Continue your regular medications unless your doctor instructs otherwise.
• Inform your doctor if you’re taking medications that affect your nervous system (like sedatives or muscle relaxants).
Food & Drink:
• You can eat a light meal before the test.
• Avoid caffeine (coffee, tea, soda, energy drinks) on the day of the test if possible, as it may affect nerve responses.
Additional Info:
• Let your doctor or technician know if you have:
o A pacemaker or implanted device
o A bleeding disorder
o Recent seizures or neurological changes
