Test Preparation
To get the most accurate results, follow these steps:
Clothing:
• Wear loose, comfortable clothes that don’t restrict chest or abdominal movement.
Food & Drink:
• Avoid heavy meals for at least 2 hours before the test.
• Avoid caffeinated drinks (tea, coffee, energy drinks) on the day of the test.
Medications:
• Ask your doctor if you need to stop any inhalers or bronchodilators before the test.
• Bring a list of all your medications.
• Continue other medicines unless instructed otherwise.
Smoking & Alcohol:
• Do not smoke for at least 4–6 hours before the test.
• Avoid alcohol the night before and the day of the test.
Exercise:
• Avoid strenuous activity or exercise at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before the test.
Additional Notes:
• Inform the technician if you’ve had recent chest pain, surgery, or feel unwell.
• Bring any previous test results or prescriptions related to your lungs, if available.
