An X-Ray Soft Tissue Neck (AP View) is a diagnostic imaging test used to examine the soft tissues of the neck from front to back. Unlike bone-focused X-rays, this view focuses on airways, soft tissues, trachea, larynx, pharynx, and surrounding structures.

    Description

    Test Preparation

    Fasting:
    o Usually not required, unless instructed otherwise by your doctor.
    o If the scan is part of an emergency or combined procedure, fasting may be requested.
     Clothing & Accessories:
    o Wear comfortable clothing; you might be asked to change into a gown.
    o Remove necklaces, chains, earrings, and any metallic items around the neck or upper chest.
     Inform the Radiologist If:
    o You are pregnant or think you might be
    o You’ve had recent surgery or trauma to the neck or throat
    o You have any implants or medical devices in the neck area

     During the Procedure:
    o You will be asked to stand or sit upright, facing the X-ray machine.
    o The image will be taken from the front (AP view).
    o You must remain still and may be asked to hold your breath briefly during the exposure.
