An X-Ray Right Heel (AP) refers to an Anteroposterior (AP) view of the right heel, where the X-ray beam passes from the front (top of the foot) to the back (heel). This imaging is focused on the calcaneus (heel bone), which is the largest bone in the foot and plays a key role in walking, running, and bearing weight.

    Test Preparation

Preparation is simple and straightforward for this test.
     General Preparation:
    • No fasting or medication changes required.
    • Wear loose, comfortable clothing—you may be asked to remove shoes and socks for the test.
    • Remove any metal objects near the foot or ankle (anklets, toe rings, etc.) to avoid interference.
    • Inform the radiology technician if you are pregnant or suspect you might be.
On the Day of the Test:
    • You’ll be asked to either sit or stand while your right foot is positioned flat on the X-ray plate.
    • For the AP view, the foot is aligned so the beam passes directly from the front (top) to the back (heel).
    • You’ll need to remain still during the image to ensure clarity.
    • The test is quick, painless, and typically takes just a few minutes.
