An X-Ray Both Hands (AP + Lateral) is a diagnostic imaging test used to examine both hands from two different angles:
• AP (Anteroposterior) View: Captures a front-to-back image of the hands.
• Lateral View: Provides a side view of the hands to evaluate bone alignment and joint structures.

This test helps detect:

• Fractures or dislocations in the fingers, hands, or wrists.
• Arthritis or joint disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis.
• Bone infections, cysts, or tumors.
• Developmental abnormalities or bone deformities.

    Test Preparation

To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:

     Clothing & Personal Items
    • Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your hands.
    • Remove rings, bracelets, watches, or any metal objects from your hands and wrists, as they can interfere with the X-ray image.
Medical History & Informing Your Doctor
    • No fasting or special diet is needed before the test.
    • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy, as X-rays involve radiation.
    • Let the technician know if you have previous injuries, metal implants, or medical conditions affecting your hands.
     During the Procedure
    • You will be asked to place both hands on the X-ray plate in two different positions:
    • AP View: Palms facing down on the X-ray plate.
    • Lateral View: Hands turned sideways to capture a side-angle image.
    • You must remain still to prevent blurry images.
    • The procedure takes 10-15 minutes.
