Description
Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
Clothing & Personal Items
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing (preferably a sleeveless or short-sleeved top).
• You may be asked to remove any jewelry, metal objects, or clothing with metal components (such as zippers or buttons) from the upper body.
Medical History & Informing Your Doctor
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy, as X-rays involve radiation.
• Let the technician know if you have previous shoulder injuries, surgeries, metal implants, or existing medical conditions affecting your shoulders.
During the Procedure
• You will be positioned standing or lying down based on the technician’s instructions.
• The technician will take two views:
• AP View: Your shoulders will be positioned straight, and the X-ray will be taken from front to back.
• Axial View: Your arm may be placed in different positions to capture a clear side view of the joint.
• You must remain still to avoid blurry images.
• The procedure takes approximately 10-15 minutes.
