Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
General Preparation:
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal zippers, buttons, or accessories (hospital gown may be provided).
- Remove jewelry, piercings, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and any metallic items before the scan.
- Inform the technician if you have any metal implants, such as pacemakers, stents, or spinal hardware.
- Avoid using hair products, makeup, or lotions with metallic components that might affect the scan’s accuracy.
Fasting & Medication:
- No fasting required unless contrast dye is needed (your doctor will inform you).
- Continue taking your regular medications unless instructed otherwise by your doctor.
- If contrast dye is required, inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, a history of allergies to contrast agents, or any other medical conditions that might require special care.
Special Considerations:
- Inform the technician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- If you experience claustrophobia, ask your doctor about sedation options.
- Inform the technician if you have had previous back surgeries or injuries in the thoracic or lumbar spine region. This helps them interpret the images accurately.
