Test Preparation
To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:
General Preparation:
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal zippers, buttons, or accessories (hospital gown may be provided).
- Remove jewelry, piercings, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and other metallic objects.
- Inform the technician if you have metal implants (pacemakers, aneurysm clips, stents, spinal rods, screws, plates, or cochlear implants).
- Avoid lotions, deodorants, or hair products as they may contain metallic particles.
Fasting & Medication:
- No fasting required unless contrast dye is used (doctor will inform you).
- Continue taking your regular medications unless instructed otherwise.
- If contrast is required, inform your doctor if you have kidney disease or allergies to contrast dye.
Special Considerations:
- Inform the technician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- If you have claustrophobia, sedation options may be available (discuss with your doctor).
- If you have had previous injuries or surgeries in the craniovertebral region, inform the radiologist.
