It helps in diagnosing metabolic and neurological disorders, tumors, strokes, and other brain abnormalities.
Why is it Done?

MRI Brain + MR Spectroscopy is recommended for:

• Brain Tumors: Helps in distinguishing between benign and malignant tumors.
• Epilepsy: Identifies metabolic changes in the brain associated with seizures.
• Stroke & Brain Injuries: Evaluates brain damage and recovery potential.
• Neurodegenerative Diseases: Detects changes in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, or other neurological disorders.

    Test Preparation

To ensure accurate results, follow these preparation guideline:

    • Fasting: Generally, not required, but if contrast dye is used, you may need to fast for 4-6 hours before the test.
    • Clothing & Accessories: Wear loose, comfortable clothes without metal (zippers, buttons, jewelry, or hairpins). You may be asked to change into a hospital gown.
    • Metal Objects: Remove all metal objects like watches, glasses, piercings, or dental implants, as MRI uses a strong magnet.
    • Pacemakers & Implants: Inform the radiologist if you have any pacemakers, cochlear implants, aneurysm clips, or metal implants, as MRI may not be safe.
    • Claustrophobia: If you have claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces), inform your doctor. A mild sedative may be prescribed.
    • Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, especially if contrast dye is required.
    • Contrast Dye (if applicable): If contrast is used, inform the technician about any allergies, kidney disease, or asthma.
